Bass On Hook Solunar Table Calculator:

In May of 1926 a fellow by the name of John Alden Knight had an idea that if he could collect data on how the movements of the moon, sun and tides correlate to the movement of animals and fish he could effectively predict the prime times of their activity.

This would in turn provide anglers and hunters with better opportunities to increase their chances of success.

John deducted that moonrise, moonset and sunrise, sunset were the most influential times of the day for animal activity.

His research over the next few years began to confirm what he already surmised and that was animals were more active during this solunar period.

How Solunar Theory Works For Determing Fishing And Hunting Activity

Using the solunar data a fisherman or hunter can determine the best times to fish or hunt in any given 24 hour period.

There are 4 optional time periods for each 24 hour day.

Two reside in the "Minor Periods" and two reside in the "Major Periods".

By using these two periods of time calculations, you will improve your ability to catch your targeted species.

For example, our default location for the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, British Columbia Canada shows two time periods for the "Minor Periods" and two time periods for the "Major Periods".

After the "Minor Periods" and "Major Periods" time data there is a "Daily Action Rating" based on a rating of 0-5 to indicate whether this day will be productive or not.

By fishing or hunting within one of the four time periods, you should increase your chances of being successful in catching fish or hunting animals.

This is not to say you won't have success at other times thoughout the 24 hour period, only that your odds increase tremendously during these times of higher animal activity.

Moon Phases in GMT

Below is a graphic of the moon phases for the current date.

You can change the date below the graphic for a look at a future moon phase.

Subtract or add your time difference to see the moon phase for your location.

For example: Using the Pacific Time Zone discussed above for the Comox Valley you would subtract 7 or 8 hours depending on whether it is daylight savings or not.
