Question Asked

When I fish for largemouth, most of the time I like to fish works and soft jerkbaits.

My main problem is slow bites.

I have a feeling that its my hook selection and worm size might be mismatched.

For the most part I prefer to use 6 and 7 inch worms or 3 inch worms when they are finicky.

I am now using Eagle Eye 3/0 offset worm hooks.

When they are tail biting they do not seem to get up to the hook, I fish for walley and sauger in the Ohio River in March and I may wait a 30 seconds or more before a fish is on so I get a lot of practice before my April fishing jaunts.

Should I be using a larger hook like a 4/0 or 5/0 or find a hook with a longer shank or does that matter?

Question Asked

ALL bass fishermen write about a "slow retrieve".

How slow is slow?

I am just a beginner, I understand where to catch bass, and I understand equipment.

It is the technique that I seem to be lacking.
