April 05, 2007
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has recently drafted individual fisheries lake management plans for 21 lakes in Itasca and west-central St. Louis County. Fisheries managers use the plans to describe the past, present, and future conditions of the lake. The plans identify goals and objectives for the fish community and identify specific management activities planned for the lake in the next 10 to 20 years.
The lake management plans available for review at this time are:
Island (near Deer River)
Island (near Northome)
Judson Mine Pit
Lake of Isles
Moose (near Deer River)
Round (near Balsam)
Round (near Squaw Lake)
Copies of the plans are available from the DNR Area Fisheries Office, 1201 East Highway 2, Grand Rapids, MN 55744. Comments or questions may be directed to (218) 327-4430. Comments will be accepted until April 13, 2007.
