Spaid caught 12 walleyes over two days that weighed 27 pounds, 12 ounces to claim his first RCL League victory at the South Dakota Division event.

Spaid trolled a bouncer with a crawler in main-lake points in 27 to 31 feet of water to catch his tournament-winning walleyes. He led the tournament Saturday with six walleyes that weighed 15 pounds, 12 ounces. He followed that up Sunday with another six walleyes that weighed 12 pounds to win the tournament by a 2-pound, 9-ounce margin.

Rounding out the top five boaters were Kenneth Johnson of Fort Pierre (12 walleyes, 25 pounds, 3 ounces, $1,573); Dan Stier of Pierre (12 walleyes, 24 pounds, 10 ounces, $1,180); Rolfe Behrend of Brookings (12 walleyes, 24 pounds, 4 ounces, $983 plus $300 bonus); and Robert Wordeman of Hermosa (10 walleyes, 24 pounds, 4 ounces, $787 plus $250 bonus).

Sidney Anderson of Pierre won the Co-angler Division and $1,180 plus a $375 bonus thanks to a two-day catch of 12 walleyes weighing 28 pounds, 3 ounces. Anderson led the Co-angler Division both days, catching six walleyes Saturday that weighed 15 pounds, 12 ounces and following that up Sunday with another six walleyes that weighed 12 pounds, 7 ounces. He caught his walleyes using bottom bouncers and spinner baits around main-lake points.

Boaters and co-anglers who finish in the top 25 in final points standings in each RCL Walleye League division will advance to the $88,000 RCL League Finals Sept. 6-7 on Lake Okoboji in Spirit Lake, Iowa. The winning boater at the finals will receive an Evinrude-or Yamaha-powered Ranger, Crestliner or Lund boat. Every angler who receives weight credit in a tournament earns points, with 200 points awarded to the winner, 199 points for second, and so on, except for Super Tournaments, which award 300 points to the winner, 298 to second, and so on.

Jim Tencate of Sioux Falls ranks first in 2003 South Dakota Division points standings with 667 for the season, and Anderson earned No. 1 co-angler status with 693 points for the year.
