Dennis,

Thank you for your question on a much ignored subject that sometimes leaves too much up to the individual's imagination and personal preferences.

I like to use an offset wide-gap 3/0 sized Aberdeen-Style Lazer Hook, either without a weight at all or by inserting a 3" finishing nail well into the head of the rubber beyond, but in line with the hook shank.

It seems to make the lure act more naturally during the presentation.

A VERY IMPORTANT part of the whole setup is keeping the hook and/or weight directly in the center of the rubber so that it falls straight down on the drop.

Hello Dennis,

Thank you for writing in.

For the Senkos I rig it 2 different ways.

One for fishing brush or grassy areas I rig it Texas style so that it will stay weedless and will be less likely to hang up.

The other way is the so called wacky style.

Most Senkos are fished weightless and one way you can control your fall rate is by hook size.

For Texas style I may range from a 1/0 to as much as a 5/0.

For wacky worming most of the time I will use a circle hook.

With regard to the brush hog I will rig it much like the Senko.

Most of the time this is fished in vegetation or heavy cover.

You want to rig it so that hang ups are at a minimum.

Here is a short video on the action a brush hog imitates

I hope this has answered your question.

As always if you have any more questions just forward them through this fine web site.

Thank you,

Leo Watson
