State Farm-Bass Fan World Rankings Update WORLD RANKINGS UPDATE Top 10: Stone In, VanDam Falls Out For the first time in the history of the State Farm
World Rankings, Kevin VanDam has fallen out of the Top 10 in the world.
Two tournaments ago, VanDam fell to the lowest he'd ever been - 3rd
in the world. But after a 74th at last week's Guntersville Bassmaster,
on the heels of an 98th at the Harris Chain Bassmaster, VanDam falls
nine spots to a shocking (for him) 12th in the That's the big story in the World Rankings this week. Other Top 10 movement: Skeet Reese remains No. 1 in the world after a 36th at Guntersville, which incidentally was his worst (and only non-Top 20) finish in six straight events, starting with last year's Eufaula Bassmaster. Greg Hackney hangs on to 2nd in the world. But since his best finish in five events fished this year is a 37th, right now he appears to be trading on his stellar record from last year. He needs a good finish to stay up high. A 9th at Guntersville helps Gerald Swindle jump up three slots to 3rd in the world. Incidentally, Swindle, who was last year's Bassmaster Angler of the Year, is also 3rd in the current Bassmaster points, behind Reese (2nd) and Takahiro Omori (1st). Dean Rojas and Omori remain in 4th and 5th. Kelly Jordon didn't have that great a finish at Guntersville, but moves up one spot into 6th. David Walker moves up into 7th, though not because of Guntersville where he finished 76th. A 14th at Guntersville helps Aaron Martens get back into the Top 10 in 8th, and Brent Chapman falls one spot into 9th. A 16th at Guntersville (his worst finish this year was a 36th) helps Marty Stone debut in the Top 10 at 10th. Other notable movement: A 92nd at Guntersville helps Alton Jones fall out of the Top 10 for the first time in a while. He's now 15th in the world. Jay Yelas gets his best finish ever at Guntersville (21st) and moves up five spots into 18th. Guntersville winner Zell Rowland jumps up 10 places to land at 21st in the world. Mark Davis gets a 93rd at Guntersville, his first finish over 100th this season, and falls again - this time 11 places to 22nd in the world. Luke Clausen is fishing well this year, and a 22nd at Guntersville helps him rise nine spots to 24th in the world. An 8th at Guntersville helps Davy Hite reverse his Florida freefall, and he rebounds to 26th. Arizona's Mark Tyler is quietly fishing well so far, and this week bumps himself up 16 slots to 30th in the world. A 10th at Guntersville helps Jason Quinn get over a bad Harris Chain event and helps him leap way up to 40th in the world. Right now the guy with the best shot is Pennsylvania's Dave Wolak, who just finished 39th at last week's Guntersville Bassmaster and is now 3rd in the ROY Race. But for the time being, there's no beating Bobby Lane's two Top 10s. The question is whether Lane, an FLW Tour rookie, can keep his momentum going outside of Florida. We'll find out in a couple of weeks. The only other notable movement after last week's event involves the guys tied for 7th in the ROY Race: Florida's Preston Clark, and Mississippi's Jesse Draime. They move up three and six slots, respectively, after decent finishes (a 20th for Draime) at Guntersville.
