On October 25, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Secretary Dwight Landreneau signed a declaration of emergency to reopen Iatt and Saline lakes for fishing. The lakes will be open to all legal fishing beginning Saturday, October 30.

Iatt Lake in Grant Parish and Saline Lake in Winn and Natchitoches parishes had been closed by the department during drawdowns to control submerged aquatic vegetation. The closures were necessary to protect the fish that were concentrated in the remaining water. On October 25th, the spillway gates were closed and the drawdowns officially ended. Biologists from LDWF said that with recent rains and the gate closures, water levels would be sufficient by October 30th to allow for fishing.
